Channel has apologised for ‘Big Boss 4′: Shiv Sena

Mumbai: The Shiv Sena has allowed cable operators here to air an entertainment channel after it apologised for including two Pakistani stars in the reality show ‘Big Boss 4’, a party leader said Friday.

“We have received a written apology from an entertainment channel which stated that they did not mean to hurt anybody’s sentiments and that they regret the move,” Shiv Sena leader Anil Parab told reporters.

“We had no issues with the channel per se. It is the show we are protesting against,” he added.

Mumbai: When the Colors started its reality show Big Boss 4 then it created controversy as the Shiv Sainiks were opposed to the presence of two Pakistan stars in the show. The Shiv Sena has threatened to disrupt the airing of the show. Besides, they had demanded an apology from the makers of the show.

Now reports have surfaced that Shiv Sena, a far-right Hindu organization, had done U-turn on the whole issue. A party leader said on Friday that the party has decided to withdraw its agitation after the Colors apologized for roping in two Pakistani stars in the show. Besides, the leader of the Hindu fundamentalist party said it has allowed cable operators to air Colors.

Shiv Sena leader Anil Parab said: “We have received a written apology from Colors which stated that they did not mean to hurt anybody’s sentiments and that they regret the move. We had no issues with the channel per se. It is the show we are protesting against.”

Bigg Boss blocked in Mumbai

Mumbai, October 15: After not successfully being able to disrupt the shoot of Bigg Boss 4, Shiv Sena, who is protesting against the participation by two Pakistani celebs in the show, has convinced the cable operators in Mumbai to take the show off air.

Many cable operators in Mumbai and Thane area blocked the channel Colors starting 6 pm on Wednesday and by 9 pm almost all operators had blocked the channel. However, people with DTH antennas were able to watch the show.

Shiv Sena is opposed the participation of Pakistani celebrities Veena Malik and Begum Nawazish Ali on the show.

Ganesh Naidu, president of the Cable Operators and Distributors Association, says most cable operators in the area agree with the Shiv Sena view and therefore agreed to block Colors channel after request from a senior Shiv Sena leader.

The Shiv Sena has called for a shutdown in Lonavala in Maharashtra on October 11 (Monday) to protest against the inclusion of two Pakistani participants in the ongoing ‘Bigg Boss 4′ TV show, a party official said.

According to Shiv Sena spokesperson Neelam Gorhe, despite demands by the party, the Colors channel has not bothered to remove the two Pakistani participants – Veena Malik and Begum Nawazish Ali – from the show.

Cable operators in Mumbai have blocked Salman Khan’s TV show ‘Bigg Boss’ which shows on Colors channel, following the Shiv Sena’s demand to do so. The party has been protesting against the inclusion of Pakistani participants Veena Malik and Begum Nawazish Ali in the show ever since it began.

Following the block, viewers in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane will be unable to view the show. Cable operators and the channel confirmed that this has happened. Now it remains to be seen if Colors will continue with the participants from Pakistan or have them pulled from the show.

Mumbai, Oct 15: Following a dikat from Bal Thackeray, cable operators in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai have blocked the TV channel Colours, which has invited the ire of Shiv Sena over the participation of two Pakistani nationals in the popular reality show, Bigg Boss 4.

The latest move from Shiv Sena comes after protests and warnings against the Pakistani nationals, Veena Malik and Nawazish Ali, in the show went in vain.

“We have nothing against the channel, but Balasaheb has made a request in the national interest, and so we shut the channel out,” Ganesh Naidu, President, Cable Operators Distributors’ Association is quoted as saying in an NDTV report.

Upping the ante on television channel Colors for airing reality show Bigg Boss which features Pakistani artistes, the Shiv Sena-affiliated Cable Operators and Distributors Association (CODA) has blocked the channel.

Shiv Sena had opposed the fourth season of the show as it featured Pakistani artistes Begum Nawazish Ali and Veena Malik. Apart from protesting outside the Bigg Boss house in Lonavala, the party had also enforced a bandh in the hill station in protest.

Colors TV blocked by Mumbai cable operators

MUMBAI: The transmission of entertainment channel Colors TV, which produces and airs the reality television show “Bigg Boss 4”, was blocked by cable operators in Mumbai on Wednesday from 7 pm onwards.

A spokesperson for Colors TV said that cable operators had informed them that they would completely block it by 9 pm, when “Bigg Boss” is scheduled to air.

Earlier, the Shiv Sena had issued an ultimatum to the channel to remove the two Pakistani stars – Veena Malik and Ali Saleem – from the show by 6 pm on Wednesday, failing which they would block the channel.

Cable subscribers from different parts of Mumbai and Thane also confirmed that Colors TV had suddenly gone off-air.

MUMBAI: Shiv Sena today said that it has allowed cable operators to broadcast Colors after the channel apologised for ‘Bigg Boss’.

The party is protesting the inclusion of two Pakistani artistes Begum Nawazish and Veena Malik on the show, being hosted by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.

Cable operators had blocked airing ‘Bigg Boss’ in Mumbai and Thane on Wednesday evening following a directive from the Sena which wanted Colors to throw two Pakistani actors out of the reality show.

“The channel has written a letter to the party chief Balasaheb Thackeray apologising to Indians if their sentiments were hurt through the show,” Sena leader Anil Parab said.
