Like other Pakistani celebrities, Veena Malik too has a website. It is veenamalik.com.pk, and not veenamalik.net, which claims to be a fansite, and certainly not veenamalik.com, which has nothing to do with the film/TV star.

I thought I could write a piece about Veena Malik’s page similar to the one I wrote when I discovered Meera’s website.

But after going through it, I was actually quite impressed.

First of all, the website is not new. I just found it recently. Also, the vast amount of options and the information available on the page simply amazed me, not because it is done in a high tech fashion (it’s not) but because I didn’t think that our celebrities acknowledged the online media, and by that I specifically mean the internet, enough to make their presence felt there.

Cable operators affiliated with the Shiv Sena, who had blacked out Colors channel for airing Bigg Boss reality show for featuring Pakistani artistes, withdrew their protest on Friday after an apology from the channel.

The Sena leaders had asked affiliate Cable Operators and Distributors Association (CODA) not to telecast the channel.

Sena leaders claimed the channel had sent a letter of apology to Sena chief Bal Thackeray following which it was decided to withdraw the blackout in Mumbai and Thane.

The Sena had launched an agitation against the channel for featuring Pakistani artistes and blocked the channel for two days in Mumbai and Thane.

Close to 2,500 cable operators had complied with the Sena “request” not to air the channel, arguing Pakistan had similarly blocked Indian channels.
