Upping the ante on television channel Colors for airing reality show Bigg Boss which features Pakistani artistes, the Shiv Sena-affiliated Cable Operators and Distributors Association (CODA) has blocked the channel.

Shiv Sena had opposed the fourth season of the show as it featured Pakistani artistes Begum Nawazish Ali and Veena Malik. Apart from protesting outside the Bigg Boss house in Lonavala, the party had also enforced a bandh in the hill station in protest.

Ganesh Naidu, who heads the CODA, said the decision was taken following a “request” from the Shiv Sena leadership. Pakistan had stopped beaming Indian channels, he added. Former Shiv Sena MLC and vibhag pramukh Anil Parab, who is the former president of the CODA, said around 2,500 operators, who are affiliated to the union, had taken the channel off air since Wednesday.

“Indian channels have been banned in Pakistan and our channels are taking their artistes to hold program, this is not correct,” said Parab, who claimed almost 100 per cent affiliation for the CODA from cable operators in Mumbai.
