The Pakistani actress made a big splash in India with Bigg Boss season four. And ever since, controversy has been her middle name. When she’s bagging headlines, the usual favourites (we won’t name names) have to take a back seat. Maybe it’s because this lady has more to go on rather than a couple of flashy statements and celebrity wars.
Strangely, for someone who’s from a disciplined background (her father is a Pakistani army officer) Veena has got one helluva funny bone. Yep, she’s beautiful and can crack you up. And she’s proved her laughter credentials by featuring on several hit TV shows back home.
She was welcomed by the silver screen and the box office with open arms. Her debut Urdu film, Tere Pyaar Mein in 2000, was a runaway hit. She followed that up with another hit in 2002 titled Yeh Dil Aap Ka Huwa. And her box office presence kept growing until 2008.
She returned to her roots – television – in 2008 to host a political satire that was well received.
And then, India beckoned. It’s 2010 and Bigg Boss season four has been steaming up our TV screens. Her chemistry with fellow contestant Ashmit Patel raised eyebrows all around. Ever since, she’s been a household name here.
It wasn’t until the 2011 world cup cricket mania that we got to see Veena Malik again. This time, she teamed up with Rakhi Sawant for the reality show Big Toss.
However, she does plan to step into the big screen of Bollywood soon. If you want to know how soon, it’s best you ask her yourself over a chat this August 3.
