Veena Malik has inclination towards women-centric films. Perhaps, that’s the reason why she chose ‘Dal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai’ as a debut venture which showcases her in a powerful role with no big name associated with it. Veena interestingly, calls it a conscious decision to be a part of non-superstar film as she claims that she can easily sail through without them.

“I’m confident about myself and can alone take the responsibility of the film on my shoulders. I need no SRK or Salman to survive,” exclaims Veena when probed about whether she is taking risk with a film as a debut venture which doesn’t boast off any big name.

She goes on to add, “I will never choose any script which will sideline me and give unnecessary importance to my male-counterpart.”

“Its’ high time that actresses in tinsel villa stop getting overshadowed by men and outgrow the image of mere item girls,” concludes Veena.

India is where I make my money: Veena Malik

This is the image that Pakistani actor Veena Malik has created for herself — sleazy and loud. Courtesy, her appearance on a reality show on Indian television.

But the actor, who is now taking a big leap into Bollywood, is unperturbed about the image she has been associated with. “I don’t understand why there is such a fuss about it,” she says.

Veena, who made headlines with her onscreen histrionics with actor Ashmit Patel, is currently busy shooting for her debut venture in B-town, Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai. “It’s different from all the comedy films the audience has seen so far. There is no singing and dancing in it. Moreover, I have a dual role that has made the project all the more challenging and interesting,” says Veena.

The industry buzz has it that Veena will soon set temperatures soaring with an item number and a guest appearance in Phir Mulakat Ho Na Ho by Bobby Sheikh. “I have got an offer, but nothing has been finalized,” she says. However, Veena maintains that joining the item girl bandwagon has its share of difficulties. “I worked really hard on my body, but it’s not easy to maintain it. Looking good is a difficult task,” she admits.

The actor has had her fair share of controversies too. Her recent remarks against the Mumbai terror attacks did not go down well with the Pakistani press and they wrote her off as a drama queen who should leave Pakistan.”I have a right to say whatever I want. I was deeply hurt when I heard about the attacks. Such terrorist activities should not go unnoticed. They can happen anywhere in the world,” she says and adds, “India is also my country and people here love me. Moreover, this is where I make money.”

The actor’s growing popularity has made Veena a much sought-after actor today. She even claims that she got an offer to join a political party back in her country. “I have been receiving offers from few parties to join them, but I believe there are other ways to help my countrymen. Also, I am an artist first, and will never choose politics over films.”

Finally, quiz her about the rumours that Veena wants to change her nationality and that she has applied for an Indian passport and replies, “I do plan to make India my second home. But I am not applying for an Indian passport.

My heart cries for Mumbai: Veena Malik

Sultry siren Veena Malik is sad these days and says without any inhibition- “My heart cries for Mumbai’. The Pakistani actress, who’s currently in Pakistan, gets up, close on terrorism, troubles and tears

The lady says that “India is my second home, I belong to India” and adds: “I heard about the blasts early on because my friends in Mumbai texted me about this gory act. I was so upset and I had tears in my eyes when I heard about the Mumbai blasts. It is such a despicable, cowardly and deplorable act, which can’t be condemned in words.

I was so upset and I had tears in my eyes when I heard about the Mumbai blasts. It is such a despicable, cowardly and deplorable act, which can’t be condemned in words.

And what about the reports that the terrorists involved in the nefarious acts are trained in Pakistan? Not one to skirt a pointed question, Veena replies: “If Indian government finds such a proof, it must sit down with the Pak government and try to tackle the terrorism head-on. But here I must add, that both the nations must look inwards. When someone comes from outside, and attacks us so easily, then there’s something wrong with our home’s security too. We, in Pak are also facing such gory incidents almost every other day and it’s high time authorities wake up to the ground reality! These ugly acts pain the common, innocent man and I don’t want innocent people in India or Pak suffering! The only way out is joint war against terrorism! And Islam doesn’t permit such bloody acts in the name of religion! I’m praying to God to create love between India and Pakistan because my soul belongs to India.”

With Veena Malik confessing about her ‘soul connect with India,’ ask her if she has any plans to finally settle down with an Indian groom, as she had admitted in an earlier Interview. “All these things happen through divine intervention, so only destiny will unfold the real story.” And what’s her final take on Ashmit saga, which has been written and rewritten umpteen times? “Ashmit and I speak to each other every day on phone! But, we haven’t been able to spend any time together because of our various different itineraries. But next week when I return to India, I’d like to spend some quality time with him. Who knows, where that might lead,” says she rather philosophically and signs off.

I won’t marry in my 20s: Veena Malik

Daughter of a Pakistani army officer, niece of a Pak POW in India – Veena Malik reveals herself to DT like you’ve never seen before…

Since your father was in the Pakistani army, were you conditioned from early on to think of India as a rival?

My uncle – my mom’s brother – was a jangi kaidi (prisoner of war) in 1971 in India.

And that phase, I remember, was emotionally tough for my family. Because of my army background, there were a few thoughts about the so-called enmity between India and Pakistan that were imposed on me. With the passage of time, people have understood that the relationship between the two countries has been strained due to political factors. As long as I get love in India, I have nothing to do with this enmity. It would be wise if we invest the money we spend on war, in education and eradication of poverty in our countries. I have great love for India, so why should I follow things imposed on me?
