Shiv Sena, furious that the district administration is yet to decide on banning the Big Boss 4 shoot, and the Colors channel officials’ silence on the Pakistani participants, has vowed to resort to its traditional ways of persuasion. While Pune district Sena chief, Machhindra Kharade,

bluntly said its agitation over the past five days was only the beginning, party spokesperson, Neelam Gorhe, gave a different twist to the issue saying that the entire episode needs to seen in the light of how we are concerned about national security.

Gorhe said, “The investigation into the German Bakery blast revealed how terrorists have spread their network even in rural Maharashtra, and here we have the government allowing Kasab’s lawyer to stay with two Pakistani citizens in private. Is it not a matter of national concern?”

Gorhe also wanted to know whether the movement of the Pakistani artistes was being monitored by security agencies.

Sources in the Sena said they would not stop, but in fact intensify their agitation unless the shooting was stopped.

The Sena has a sizable presence in Pune district, with two  Lok Sabha members who have a strong network at the ground level.

“We have a sizeable number of workers and can continue the agitation for as long as we wish,” said a prominent Sena leader.

While Sena leaders are pointing towards a police report that the law and order situation in Lonavla was serious because of the shooting of Big Boss, its workers have been holding vociferous agitation and demonstrations outside the bungalow for the past five days.

On Saturday, Sena workers attacked a jeep carrying members of the Bigg Boss production team.

According to Sena insiders, they plan to stop all logistical support to the shooting (bungalow and staff) in the coming days.

“We will ensure that everyone helping them will stop doing so,” said a Sena leader. He said the local residents would not take any decision for short-term gain.

Meanwhile, there are mixed responses from the TV industry. Rahul Mahajan, a former Bigg Boss participant, said, “I don’t intend to hurt anyone’s sentiments, but I think the Shiv Sena should let the artistes be because an artiste has no religion, country or race. He or she belongs to the entire world.”

Kamal Rashid Khan, another Bigg Boss participant, said, “I think the Sena has done a  good thing by protesting against Pakistani artistes because no Indian artiste makes it to a show in Pakistan. So, why this obsession with Pakistani artistes?”

TV actor, Parul Chaudhary, said, “The artistes have come into India on our invitation and prior permission. I think we should treat them with the respect they deserve by virtue of being our guests.”
