As many as 24 Shiv Sainiks were detained by the Lonavala police on Tuesday after they created a ruckus at the ABCL Studios in Lonavala where season 4 of reality show Big Boss is being shot. The Shiv Sainiks raised slogans and demanded that Pakistani artistes and former lawyer of Ajmal Kasab be banned from the show.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Dilip Shinde said the Sainiks were detained at the gates of the studio after they tried to barge inside. “We have taken 24 persons in preventive custody,” he said, adding there was no damage done. “They merely raised slogans demanding ban on Pakistani artistes and the lawyer,” he said. Shinde said they would verify if the Pakistani artistes are holding proper tourists visas. “We will check if the artistes have proper tourists visas. If there are any techical illegalities, we will take action against them,” he said.
Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray issued a statement on Tuesday in Mumbai that the party will not allow allow the show to continue until the Pakistani artistes are dropped. “Through Big Boss, the green venom from Pakistan is entering India. Come what may, Shiv Sena will not permit this programme to run. Do not threaten us about law and order, Shiv Sena will disrupt this programme,” Thackeray said in a statement.
Shiv Sena district chief Macchindra Kharade said that Tuesday’s agitation has sent a strong signal to the Big Boss producers that the party wants Pakistani artistes and the lawyer banned from the show. “If they do not take proper action, our agitation will continue,” he said. Big Boss sources said the shooting was not affected by the agitation and there was no damage. They said the security at the studio has been beefed up and nobody is allowed inside without strict checking.
