Hindu nationalists arrested after targeting Pakistani actors

Police arrested 24 Hindu nationalists after they barged onto the set of a hit Indian reality television show on Tuesday to protest its inclusion of two actors from Pakistan.

The Shiv Sena activists stormed the gates of a bungalow where the “Bigg Boss” show is filmed to pressure producers to remove Pakistani model Veena Malik and actor Ali Saleem, who is known for his TV persona Begum Nawazish Ali.

Lonavala senior police inspector Balraj Lengle said no one was injured, but the 24 activists have been charged with trespassing. Lonavala is a town about 62 miles from Mumbai.

Shiv Sainiks beat up Bigg Boss guards

Even as Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray Tuesday said the presence of Pakistani artists on Bigg Boss would not be allowed, party activists barged into the campus of the bungalow where the TV show is being shot and beat up some security guards. The Shiv Sainiks shouted slogans and protested

the move by Colors TV channel to include two Pakistanis on the show – model Veena Malik and TV actor Ali Saleem, whose TV persona Begum Nawazish Ali is very popular both in Pakistan and India.

Police say the activists beat up some private security guards.

کلرز ٹی وی چینل کے ریالٹی شو ’ بگ باس‘ کے سیزن فور میں پاکستانی فنکاروں کی شمولیت کےخلاف احتجاج کرنے والی علاقائی سیاسی جماعت شیوسینا کے کار کنوں نے سیٹ پر ہنگامہ اور توڑ پھوڑ کی ہے۔

ممبئی سے تقریبا پچاسی کلومیٹر کے فاصلے پر لوناولہ میں بگ باس فور کا سیٹ بنا گیا ہے۔

لوناولہ پولیس کنٹرول سے ملنے والی اطلاع کےمطابق دوپہر ساڑھے تین بجے کے قریب دس سے پندرہ شیوسینک سیٹ پر پہنچے اور پاکستانی فنکاروں کو شو سے نکالنے پراصرار کیا۔ پولیس کے مطابق جب احتجاج کرنےوالوں کو روکنے کی کوشش کی گئی تو انہوں نے وہاں توڑ پھوڑ شروع کر دی۔

پولیس نے ہنگامہ کرنے، توڑ پھوڑ اور غیر قانونی طور پر کسی جگہ پر داخل ہونے کی کوشش کرنےجیسے الزامات کے تحت پندرہ افراد کے خلاف کیس درج کیا ہے۔ فی الحال وہ سب حراست میں ہیں۔

اس دوران سیٹ کے اطراف پولیس بندوبست کو بڑھا دیا گیا ہے اور ساتھ ہی ممبئی میں کلرز چینل کے دفتر پر پولیس کا پہرہ لگا ہے۔

Salman’s love affair with troubles seem to have hit Big Boss’s house this time as Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray has threatened the producers of the reality show against the participation of Pakistani artists in the fourth edition of the show, which is inspired by famous TV series Big Brother.

After the show was unveiled by Bollywood heartthrob Salman Khan on October 3, Thackeray on Tuesday vowed to disrupt the show opposing participation of two artists from Pakistan – Veena Malik, model and erstwhile girlfriend of Pakistani fast bowler Mohammed Asif and Begum Nawazish, who hosts a popular talk show Pakistan.

Shiv Sainiks’ bid to disrupt Bigg Boss shooting

Shiv Sainiks on Tuesday attempted to disrupt the shooting of the popular television reality show Bigg Boss produced by Colours channel at a private bungalow in Lonavla, a hill station near Mumbai, in protest against the inclusion of two Pakistani guests on the show.

The two Pakistani guests on the show hosted by Salman Khan are Veena Malik, model and ex-girlfriend of Pakistani cricketer Mohammed Asif, and actor Ali Saleem, who hosts a popular chat show as Begum Nawazish Ali.

Shiv Sena Pune district president Machchindra Kharade, who was arrested, told TheHindu on the phone that Sena chief Bal Thackeray’s editorial in Saamna on Tuesday ordered that the inclusion of Pakistan nationals in the serial must be opposed. “We supported that call and decided to enter the shooting premises and stop it. We were over a 100 people,” he said.

Activists against Pak stars on Indian Big Brother held

MUMBAI: Indian police on Tuesday detained 25 activists of the Hindu nationalist Shiv Sena party protesting against two Pakistani artists appearing on “Bigg Boss”, an Indian reality television show.

“Bigg Boss”, the local version of British reality show “Big Brother”, started a new season Sunday and includes Pakistanis Veena Malik and Ali Saleem among the contestants.

“They (activists) were shouting slogans outside the “Big Boss” studio. We have detained them,” a police officer told AFP.

Come what may, won’t allow ‘Bigg Boss’: Thackeray

Adopting a strident posture towards popular reality TV show ‘Bigg Boss’, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Tuesday said his party won’t allow the show to continue, come what may.

“In the guise of this show, Pak’s green poison is entering the country. Come what may, we will not allow the show,” Thackeray said in a statement in Mumbai.

“Don’t issue law and order (disruption) threats to us. Shiv Sena will disrupt the TV show,” Thackeray said.
