Cable operators across the Mumbai and Thane have decided to bow down to the Shiv Sena’s diktat and block the reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ on Colors channel from Wednesday night. The Shiv Sena has been protesting against the participation of two Pakistan actors in the fourth edition of the popular show. The direct to home (DTH) viewers will, however, be able to watch the show that begins at 9 pm every day.
Sena leader Anil Parab confirmed that cable operators had agreed to a blackout. “The blackout began in Mumbai from Wednesday and will spread to rest of the state by Thursday.”
Ganesh Naidu, president of Cable Operators and Distributors Association, that has over 2,500 members in and around Mumbai, said, “We have blocked Colors in response to the call given by the Sena chief. The channel will not be shown by us in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai.”
Colors channel spokesperson confirmed the development. “We received calls from operators that the Shiv Sena has ordered a blackout. By 9 pm (Wednesday) our telecast was suspended.”
