The controversial queen of Pakistan, Veena Malik, was hired by a leading Pakistani television channel for the holy month of Ramadan in order to host a religious show but it was only a matter of time before the production team removed her following the public outcry.

However, the 28-year-old, who has always stayed in the headlines for wrong reasons, thinks people should have given her a chance.

“Even before the show was released, people started saying that Veena Malik is not allowed to do this show. It is very sad,” she said in an audio interview with BBC Urdu where listeners could call in and ask questions.

The Pakistani starlet is in India for the past couple of years, as she is working in several films. She rose to fame during her stint in the ‘Bigg Boss 4’ house. Later on she created a stir in her country by appearing ‘nude’ on the cover page of a popular men’s magazine, FHM India.

Veena Malik has done many other cheap publicity stunts till date so much so that her shedding clothes or having affairs doesn’t surprise anyone now.

Nevertheless, the actress still thinks she is a religious woman and has read Holy Quran with translation.

“Religion is a very personal matter for me. I am very religious, but it is something between me and my God. I don’t think a third person can stand in front of me and judge how religious I am or not,” she snapped at a caller, who asked if the future of the actress would be religiously led or scandalous like her past and present.

“The difference between me and others is that I have read the Holy Qur’an with translation, which most people have not. I may not be a perfect Muslim, but I constantly try to understand Islam better,” she responded to a caller, who advised her to move towards religion.

Well, all said and done, these statements from Veena Malik can certainly create a storm in the Muslim community once again because she would have never done anything stupid, if she had really read Quran with translation.
